Local history museum in Līdumnieki

A peculiar collection of World War II and Soviet-era relics, complemented by an engaging narrative. The exhibition opened in 2004 and is still continuously updated.

Formerly, the corner of Līdumnieki (the northern corner of Ciblas parish) was popularly known by the name Ponizove. The residents of Eversmuiža called all people from across the swamp, starting with the Hmeļņeckis family, “Ponizovians.”

In 2025, as part of the project “Expansion of the Baltic Military Heritage Tourism Product in Lithuania and Southern Latvia (Military Heritage II)” implemented by the Latgale Tourism Association in cooperation with the Latvian rural tourism association “Lauku ceļotājs,” a digital exhibition was created about the history of Latvia’s eastern border from its establishment to the present day.

The exhibition includes an audio guide, audio and video stories from eyewitnesses, historical photos and descriptions, and a route along the border passing through historical sites significant to the border guard.
