Odukalns ancient burial place

The Odukalns is an ancient Latgalian burial place dating back to the 7th – 12th centuries, which has always been an object of interest for various scientists. During excavations valuable Latgalian artefacts were found, which completed collections of the Museum of Latvian History, the Hermitage in St.-Petersburg, the National Museum in Helsinki and others. The findings proved the fact of existence of an ancient Latgalian town on shore of the lakes of Ludza. It was an active and rich town, and socially and economically developed for those times.
