Divkšu castle mound

It is a castle mound dating back to the 10th century. The overgrown with trees Divkšu castle mound is called the Golden Hill by the locals. It used to have an impressive protection system and an ancient Latgalian cult stone can be found there. The hill and its surroundings are covered with mixed wood. This is one of the most picturesque castle mounds in the municipality, the highest place and can be seen from a distance. Its imposing ditches and dams still leave an impression of a powerful fortification and are the evidence of the Latgalian culture in the Iron Age. Divkšu castle mound is a culture monument protected by the state.
