A nearly 300-metre-long pontoon bridge has been built across Lake Mazais Ludzas.
The bridge may well be the longest walking route over water in Latvia. It is both a new tourist attraction and a valuable spot for nature lovers and birdwatchers, as several bird species can be observed in the area.
The pontoon walkway connects Mazā Ezerkrasta Street in the Old Town with the active recreation area and “Radziņš” Beach. Mazā Ezerkrasta Street was renovated in 2009 and is an interesting part of the historic centre, where traditional wooden architecture and decorative woodcarvings have been preserved. Wooden sculptures can also be found along the street, making it a quieter and more atmospheric place for a leisurely walk.
