The Zilupe Ancient Valley<\/strong>, with its distinctive landscape, river and lakes, resembles a miniature portrait of Latgale. It begins on the outskirts of the town of Zilupe and stretches past Za\u013cesje Manor<\/strong> as far as Duboviki<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Gr\u012bva River<\/strong> flows through the valley, which is also home to Lake Za\u013cesje<\/strong> and Lake Sov\u0101ni<\/strong>. Two ancient Latgalian hillforts are located here \u2013 Naumki Hillfort, also known as \u0160ibe\u0146ica, and Duboviki Hillfort<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Covered with pine and birch trees, Naumki Hillfort was once artificially fortified. Traces of defensive ditches and embankments can still be seen at its northern end.<\/p>\n
